William Myers
Mr. William “Billy” Myers passed away on Tuesday April 4, 2023, at University Hospital in Newark at the age of fifty-five.
William was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, was raised in Edison and graduated from Edison High school. He had been a resident of Highland Park for most of his adult life.
He worked as a freelance writer and was published frequently in the Princeton Packet.
William was an avid astronomer, studying astronomy, astrophysics and cosmology. He was a former member of the Amateur Astronomers Club that met at Union County College. One of his proudest moments was speaking at a Halley’s Comet gathering to a crowd of over a thousand. In addition he was a Revolutionary War historian and had a deep knowledge of the Revolutionary War, in particular the Battle of Princeton. He was also a member of the Raritan Millstone Heritage Alliance, and had been a guest speaker on many events surrounding the Revolutionary War. Billy had a wonderful sense of humor, and had a keen knack for satire, which was evident in many of the articles and letters he has written.
William was predeceased by his parents, William and Stella Myers.
William is survived by his siblings Donna Mancini, Gene Myers and Patricia Myers- Hancocks and her husband James. He is also survived by his nieces Jessica Myers-Garcia and her husband Gabriel, Kristen Myers, Lindsay Mancini and great niece Ava Grace Garcia.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Monday April 10th at the Gleason Funeral Home in Somerset. A funeral service will begin at 6:30 PM and all other services will be held privately.
