Robert Soriano, of Princeton, NJ, died peacefully in his home on Tuesday, 26 July 2022 after a long illness.

Robert “Bob” Soriano, 79, was born in Philadelphia, PA to Florence and Alphonso Soriano on 29 November 1942. He grew up in Somerville, NJ moved to Bound Brook in 1967 to start a family and resided for the past forty years in Princeton, NJ.

He graduated from St. Peter’s High School in 1960, spent a post graduate year at Malvern Prep School, PA and attended Villanova University where he only spent a year. Instead, he returned to his hometown where he took over his family’s real estate business and haberdashery.

Mr. Soriano owned and operated Soriano’s Toggery and Soriano’s Realty both in Somerville, NJ and, for a time, The Jean Shop, the Toggery’s seaside casual clothing off shoot in Lavalette, NJ. The popular men’s clothing store, Soriano’s Toggery, had a strong local following in Somerset County.

Mr Soriano was a member of the Raritan Valley Country Club.

He is survived by three children, Charles, Amy and Gregg along with their spouses, Frank, Dawn and Lori, respectively. He has three grandchildren, Charlie, Ellie and Lily.

He is also survived by two former spouses each of 18 years. He and his first wife, mother of his three children, now Mrs. Carol McLain of Kennett Square PA, although no longer married, remained lifelong friends.

His second marriage, to Ms. Sandra Goodfriend of New York City and, later, Princeton, NJ produced a gourmet food business collaboration of Cox’s Market in Princeton, NJ, which they owned and operated together for over 20 years.

Mr. Soriano loved small business, finance, travel, dining out, reading and spending time with his family.

Private services have been entrusted to the Gleason Funeral Home, Somerset.
