Obituary

Patricia A. Buckelew, of Kendall Park passed away on Wednesday, April 21st at St. Peter’s Medical Center in New Brunswick. She was 73.

Born and raised in Plainfield, she has lived in North and South Brunswick for most of her adult life.

She was a Registered Nurse and most recently worked as the Director of Nursing at the New Jersey Eastern Star Home (NJESH) in Finderne before her retirement.

Pat enjoyed playing golf, camping, gardening, bird watching with her husband, jigsaw puzzles, reading, watching action movies and especially spending time with her family.

She is predeceased by her parents, Russell & Alice Vail; brother, Russell E. Vail, Jr. and his wife, Mary Ann.

Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Richard; son and daughter-in-law, Kyle & Doreen Buckelew of Robbinsville; daughter & son-in-law, Karin & Gary Hand of Kendall Park; sisters, Barbara Michelson of Ohio and Virginia Swichel of New Jersey; and 6 grandchildren, Gary, Elisabeth, Rebecca, Kristina, Kyle and Kaitlyn.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 28th from 2 to 5 PM at the Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton Street, Somerset, with funeral services at 4:30 PM. Cremation will be held privately.

In every photo there’s a smile on her face, but that was also in life. Her joy always made you feel important and respected. She was my friend in middle school and she married my brother. I loved her and will miss her. Ed and I send hugs and blessings.
