Mrs. Nonyem Aduba

Mrs. Nonyem Aduba passed away at home in the early morning hours of November 4th, 2020 surrounded by her loving children. She was 79 years old.

With a gentle voice and gentle touch, Nonyem Aduba was known equally for her quiet and considerable strength as she was for her innate ability to love and create a sense of family that extended far beyond bloodlines.

Mrs. Aduba was born in Obosi, Nigeria and attended the University of Nigeria Nsukka before moving to The United States where she earned her Master of Social Work from Simmons College in Massachusetts. She was a woman of many talents demonstrated in her athletic prowess where she was Tennis’ West African Singles Champion, endless academic honors and an artistry that spanned many disciplines (drawing, singing, sewing and gardening).

She is survived by the loves of her life, her five children, Rick Utaegbulam, Onyi Freeman, Uzo Aduba, Chioma Aduba Kremers and Obi Aduba; and her five grandchildren who she simply adored, Gabriella Freeman, Matthew Freeman, Michael Freeman, Adanna Aduba and Emeka Aduba.

Mrs. Aduba loved family, travel, and tennis. She commanded respect and taught us what true love really feels like; a regal woman who passed on her discipline and resiliency to each of her children. She instilled in them a pride of who they are and where they come from. To say she will be missed can't begin to undress the surface.

Funeral services will be private.

To Chi Chi, Uzo, and family
So sorry to learn of your mother’s passing and please accept my condolences. Your mom was a great lady who accomplished many things in her life, including raising an amazing and talented family. I always admired the work ethic she instilled in her children and how hard you all worked to achieve success in your chosen fields. Nonyem, may you rest in peace knowing you left the world a better place because you were here, and may we learn from your example. With love from the Gudaitis family

Dear Rick: Condolences on your great loss. Your mother must have been proud of her son; a thoughtful, athletic, intelligent, accomplished apparent mirror of herself. Our sympathies to your family as well. Sincerely, Roy and Ronnie Pologe.
