Obituary

Mona Wilson passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at Springhill Assisted Living in Somerset, New Jersey.

Mona was born March 21, 1950 in San Nicolas, Aruba to the late Adolphus and Edna (Joseph) Roberts. She was raised in Trinidad. In 1974, Mona immigrated to the US and settled in East Orange, NJ, and then relocated to Orange, Irvington and Edison, before settling in Somerset, NJ.

Mona was a training coordinator for The Alliance for Employee Growth & Development in Somerset, NJ, where she worked for over 20 years. She was a parishioner at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church in Irvington. After relocating to Somerset, she became a parishioner of St. Matthias Church. She was also member of the Sesame Street Flyers in Brooklyn, NY. In her downtime, Mona loved shopping with her sisters and dressing up. Gardening was her passion and she won multiple awards for the best garden in her neighborhood. Above all Mona loved her family and treasured every moment with them.

Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her brother, Randolph Roberts.

She is survived by her loving spouse of 48 years, Clyde Wilson; her son Darlon Wilson and his wife Crystal, her son Trimaine McEwen and his fiancée Leanne Sulovski; her brothers, James and Rudolph Roberts; her sisters, Barbara Duke and Murl Thomas and brother in-laws Jerome Duke and Hamilton Thomas. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Lucas and Elias Wilson and Troy McEwen; her nieces and nephews: Kerlene Moore, Cherise Smith, Darrell Duke, Denzil and Dale Thomas and other nieces and nephews abroad.

Family and friends may visit on Monday, November 16th from 10:30am to 12:00 p.m. at the Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton Street, Somerset, NJ 08873.

Funeral services will follow and begin at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial and committal service will continue at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Somerset.
