Mary T. Lesko Obituary
Mary Tulenko Lesko, 92, entered into eternal life on July 27, 2022. Mary was born in Johnstown, PA on July 11, 1930 the daughter of John and Mary Tulenko. Mary moved to Franklin Park, NJ in 2012 after living in Jamaica Queens, NY for 41 years and William Penn PA. Mary was a parishioner of Saint Augustine of Canterbury Roman Catholic Church in Kendall Park, NJ, Sacred Heart Church in Cambria Heights, NY and Saint Michael Ukrainian Catholic Church in Shenandoah, PA. Mary was also a Eucharistic Minister at Sacred Heart Church.
Graduating in 1947 Mary was oratorian of her class at West Mahanoy Township High School, Shenandoah Heights, PA.
Mary retired from J.P. Morgan Bank in Manhattan, NY and was previously employed by First Federal Bank in Shenandoah, PA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Joseph in 2015, after 44 years of marriage, and an uncle, Michael Rohal in 1977.
She is survived by her sister Helen Weachock (Henry), Franklin Park, NJ; brother John Tulenko (Helen), York, PA; daughters Patricia Fenner (Paul), Lexington, SC, and Catherine Brandon (Rodney), Tuscon, AZ. Mary has six grandchildren: Christopher (Julia), Lauren (Michael), Joshua, Matthew, Hope and Cayla and two great grandchildren, Lisetta and Leon. She is also survived by brothers in law, John Peters and Thomas Lesko and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Mary was a very generous person who enjoyed reading, playing pinochle, crocheting, knitting, traveling and going to the theater. She was an avid supporter of Little Sisters of the Poor, Queen of Peace Residence, Queens Village, NY and many other religious organizations.
Visitation will be held at the Gleason Funeral Home 1360 Hamilton Street, Somerset, NJ on Tuesday, August 2 from 4-7pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10am on Wednesday, August 3, at Saint Augustine of Canterbury Roman Catholic Church, 45 Henderson Road, Kendall Park NJ. Internment will take place at 11:30am on Thursday, August 4, at Saint Michael’s Cemetery in Shenandoah Heights, PA.
In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to be made in Mary’s name to Saint Michael Ukrainian Catholic Church, 114 South Chestnut Street, Shenandoah, PA 17976 or to a charity of your choice.
