Obituary for Marian Owens
Marian Owens, 84, passed away on Tuesday, August 02, 2022, in Staten Island.
Marian was born October 18, 1937, in Charleston, South Carolina. She grew up in South Carolina, before moving to Brooklyn, New York, where she became a lifelong resident.
Marian was a health care professional who had worked for one family for over 30 years. She was a longtime member of a Baptist church in Coney Island. Marian was an excellent cook, enjoyed sewing and loved listening to music. She cherished her family most of all, especially her grandkids and great-grandchildren.
Ms. Owens was predeceased by her former husband, Lennon Owens Sr. her brothers, Willie and Gerald; her sister, Jeanette and her grandchild, Myles.
She is survived by her five children, Larry Owens of Carneys Point, NJ, Lennon Owens Jr. and his wife Tyra of Brooklyn, NY, Phyllis Owens of South Brunswick, NJ, Simone Livingston and her husband Tyrone of Somerset, NJ, Carlton Owens, and his wife Karoline of Connecticut; her sisters, Pansy Harris, Vivian, and Naomi all of South Carolina. She is also survived by her eleven grandchildren, Ronell, Saliyma, Quiana, Giana, Qaadira, Isiah, Courtney, Shanee, Cory, Nasim, Na’am, her eight great-grandchildren. And her honorary daughters, Eyvette, Pam & Darlene,…and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, August 10th from 9:30 A.M to 10:30 A.M. at the Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton Street, Somerset, NJ.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 A.M. at the Gleason Funeral Home. Burial and committal services will follow at Rosehill Cemetery in Linden, NJ.
