Obituary for Kenneth W. "Cheese" Erath Jr.

Kenneth W. “Cheese” Erath, Jr., of New Brunswick passed away on Monday, October 31st at home. He was 68.

Born in New Brunswick, he was a lifelong resident. Kenny was a graduate
of New Brunswick High School and was employed as a mail handler for the US Postal Service in Edison.

He was also an active volunteer with the area’s homeless shelters, soup kitchens and the Thanksgiving dinner at the Bayard Street Presbyterian Church. Kenny was also an active and devout lifelong member of Sacred Heart Church in New Brunswick. He was an active member of the New Brunswick Elks, an avid golfer, a fan of NY Yankees baseball and NY Giants football and loved taking trips to Atlantic City and PARX Casino.

He was predeceased by his wife, Catherine Goebel Erath in 1998, and his parents, Kenneth & Mary Erath.

Surviving are his sisters and brothers-in-law, Jacqueline & Vincent Cahill of Monmouth Junction and Elizabeth & John Matthews of Trenton; nieces, Coleen Clementson, Bridget Baill and Holly Cahill; and great-nephews & niece, Brian Baill, Thomas Clementson and Molly Clementson.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 7th from 3 to 7 PM at the Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton Street, Somerset. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 8th at 10 AM at the funeral home, followed by an 11 AM Mass at Sacred Heart Church, New Brunswick. Burial to follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, New Brunswick.
