Joseph Eugene Golden was born June 9, 1943 to the late Johnnie and Susie Golden in Columbus Mississippi.
In the late 40’s the family moved from Mississippi to Somerset for a time. They then moved to Schwartz Homes in New Brunswick around the early 50’s, where he attended the New Brunswick School System. Joe had many friends in and around the area and it was not unusual to hear them singing on the corners (that baritone voice). He was not one of many words, but he was knowledgeable in many things. His appearance was at all time pristine! Even his blue jeans were always creased.

During his childhood, he attended Macedonia Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of the late Elder David Styles. Sometimes he would reflect on some of the older saints.

Joe later met and married Jean Murdock and adopted her four sons, who he loved and they loved him, even until this day.

He attended barbering school and received his barbering license in Newark, NJ. Following that he continued his profession being self-employed. He worked for St. Peters Hospital in New Brunswick in his late teens. Later in his life, he sought to make a change and moved to Williamsport, PA in 1993. Where he settled and worked for the Sun Gazette Newspaper and continue barbering.

Joe became well liked in PA and loved to help anyone that needed help. He would assist the Church in anyway he could, whether it was an event or a church gathering. Due to an illness Joe returned home in 2019, where he received much love, prayer and affection from many, everywhere. He was very thankful to everyone!
Joe was predeceased by his parents, Johnnie and Susie Golden; one brother, Henry Woodard of Detroit, Michigan and one sister, his twin, Josephine of New Brunswick.

To cherish his memory: two brothers, Oscar Woodard (Laverne) of Somerset, Daniel Golden of Bronx, NY; his three sisters, Charlene Weeks (Clifford) of Somerset, Wilda French of Somerset and Sandra Golden of New Brunswick’ his Sons, Fred Capers Jr. of North Brunswick, Derrick Capers of Florida, Robin Capers of Florida and Lloyd Capers and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends!
