John F. Branca
John Branca passed away on Tuesday evening January 19, 2021 at Overlook Hospital in Summit. He was 75 years old.

Mr. Branca was born in Newark and raised in Bellville. He graduated from our Lady of Good Counsel in Newark and attended Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Mr. Branca had a lengthy career as an office manager at Worthington/Dresser Pumps Inc. Followed by an equally long career at NJ Door Works.

Mr Branca will be remembered for volunteering much of his time coaching youth sports in North Plainfield and at St Joseph’s Elementary School. He was beloved by his neighbors and community. He was a devout New York Yankees baseball fan that loved The Mick. He would frequently enjoy outings to the Bronx to take in a game with his sons. He loved his music, guitar especially. He played in two bands, The Electrons and The Qualatones. He never missed a Clapton show at MSG. He enjoyed listening to the great Pavarotti as well. He loved the coast of California and all of the other places he visited. Above all he enjoyed spending time together with his family and being a grandfather. He was Johnny! He was Mr Bee! He was Dad! He was Pop Pop! He was the best!
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sharon Branca of North Plainfield and his sons John Branca (Rose), Derek Branca (Lisa), Brian Branca (Aimee), sisters Nancy Francese (Ritchie) and Patricia Phillips. He is also survived by his grandchildren Emily, Melanie, Seton, Jack Miles and great granddaughter Brooklynn.

Visiting will be held from 6-8 PM on Sunday January 24, 2021 at the Gleason Funeral Home 1360 Hamilton Street in Somerset. Services will begin on Monday January 25, 2021 at 10 AM at the funeral home followed by a 10:30 AM funeral mass at St. Matthias Church in Somerset. All other services will take place privately. My 🐝. No one will measure up to the legendary ”Mr Bee” My heart is broken, I think of our monthly dinners for years, mini vacations ,weddings, christenings you name it; and working together making us like family. And giving you a little white snowball that drove me crazy and you loved her the second you saw her when she wagged her tail and jumped on your lap and became one of the adoring “S’s” in your life. Our friendship will never be forgotten. I’ll also never regret making you get the infamous 🐝 tattoo. I love you B
