Harold J. Dodds, 75- educator, administrator, public servant

Harold James Dodds, formerly of Madison, NJ and Clinton, NJ passed away on November 22nd, 2020 due to complications from a stroke.
He was born in New Brunswick, NJ on November 29th, 1944 to Harold C. and Margaret E. Dodds and was a graduate of Highland Park High School.

He was a graduate of Patterson State Teachers College and member of the Skull & Poniard fraternity. He went on to work for Newark Public Schools as an educator, administrator and supervisor for the After School Program and Summer Youth Development Program for a total of 43 years. After retiring, he moved to North Carolina in 2013.

Many of his fondest years occurred during his time as a resident of Madison, where he served on the Madison Housing Authority, was a member and president of the Madison Jaycees and worked as a special police officer for the Madison Police Department.

He was a proud member of the Madison GOP and served as a councilman from 1986 to 1991.

He was predeceased by his parents and is survived by his son, Harold Dodds Jr. of North Carolina, brother Matt and wife Bella Dodds of Little Silver, NJ and nephews Matthew Dodds and Colin Dodds.

The internment will be private and a memorial service will be held in the springtime in New Jersey for family and friends.

Very sorry to learn of the passing of harold, as youngsters we spent many days together. I remember his parents very well and they used to drive us many places.
Sincerest sorry and regrets to matt , bella, harold jr and the family. Harold was always a funny guy who an honest opinion. Fourth Avenue and raritan avenues will never be the same. And to his friends in Madison nj the very best. Harold will be missed by the hphs class of 1962. Gary gorran his friend forever.
