Obituary for Francine Aronow

Francine (Shoffel) Aronow of Monroe Twp. passed away suddenly at her home on Saturday, December 10th 2022. She was 74.

Born in Newark and raised in Hillside, Mrs. Aronow resided in Union and Colonia before moving to Monroe Township 8 years ago.

In high school, where she served as the Corresponding Secretary of the Future Nurses Club, Fran is described as “Talkative & Full of Fun in her yearbook.”

Through her best friend Phyllis she met her husband Les, with whom she shared a one-of-a-kind love that only a ‘Lopsky’ & ‘Doompsky’ could know.

Fran received her RN and served as an ICU nurse for 30 years at Union Hospital, where she was adored by her coworkers whom she considered her second family. After Union Hospital closed she worked as a hospice nurse for Grace Health Care. As a nurse Fran had a special way about her. Her patients always said she was their angel. She would hold their hands as they took their last breath. It was her mitzvah. Fran always said that she didn’t need to go to temple; she did God’s work every day.

She was a social butterfly, particularly after her retirement when she was active in the Clearbrook community, playing cards, Mah Jong and Bingo. She also loved going to Broadway shows and spending time with her family and large network of friends while making new friends wherever she went including the doctor’s offices and post office where she was well known and loved.

Her loving husband Leslie died in 2002.

Fran is survived by her beloved son and daughter-in-law, Adam & Faith Aronow; and her cherished grandsons, Landon and Blake.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, December 15th at 10:30 AM at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge. The family requests that all guests please meet at the cemetery office by 10 AM
