Mr. Francesco Russo passed away on Tuesday January 26, 2021 at the Kessler Institute in West Orange.

Mr. Russo was born in Carini, Sicily. He was educated there and served in the Italian Military then immigrated to the United States. He resided in Brooklyn, Warren and Middlesex before moving to the Dayton section of South Brunswick where he and his wife Giovanna would raise their family.

He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Peace Church in North Brunswick.

He was the owner and president of Francesco Russo Contractors in South Brunswick. A man of many hats, Francesco was an incredible cook and always made people feel welcome and comfortable in his home. He loved soccer and coached South Brunswick Recreation Soccer for twelve years. He also was still active in the sport playing in a men’s over fifty-five league and a supporter of Team Milan.

Mr. Russo was known for the tremendous amount of detail he put into his craft, a quick wit and enjoying a good espresso but more so for being an outstanding family man, father and husband.

Mr. Russo is survived by his wife of twenty years Giovanna, their children Giuseppe and Fabiana and his mother Anna Russo.

He is also survived by his siblings Maria Giambanco and her husband Pino, Vita Oliveri and husband Salvo, Giusi Calcagno and husband Giacomo and Salvatore Russo, a granddaughter Sofia, nieces and nephews Gianluca and Salvo Giambanco, Marialuce, Giuseppe and Mauro Oliveri, and Clara and Simona Calcagno, and his father and mother-in-law Salvatore and Antonia Tomaselli.

A beautiful person, a kind and considerate man! We will always remember Francesco welcoming the Whitfield family into he and his families home on numerous occasions over the course of 18 years. And while enjoying the Russo’s hospitality and friendship, it was so refreshing to witness the love he shared for his Queen, Giovanna and his precious daughter, Fabiana, whom he adored. We were even fortunate to watch Francesco cook octopus, just on a whim, at the family Christmas party. What an amazing cook and talent that will be missed. It is unbelievable & unsettling that a link in this beautiful family chain has been broken. But I know the memories they all shared will live on forever. Francesco will truly be missed, as he extended such kindness to everyone.
Our sincere condolences,
The Whitfield Family

I remember the very early days of Giovanna and Francesco dating. I was unsure of this guy with broken English that showed up to the salon everyday to come and hang out. But as the weeks progressed it was obvious that these two fell in love fast and were the perfect match. Francesco was charmingly handsome inside and out, gentle, kind, witty, and always made you feel welcomed and special. He was amazing at working with his hands too! He was a beautiful man that I was so lucky to have known. He will stay in our hearts forever and now be an angel to those whose who surrounded him. You will be missed dearly Francesco. My condolences to Giovanna, Fabiana and the entire extended family xo

This is a terrible loss for his family and the rest of us that got the privilege to know this man. He always made you feel welcome in his home, he would cook you a great meal and make you laugh. He was a wonderful worker and did many jobs for me at my home and condo always so professional in how he worked. The sweetest guy you could ever meet. You knew that he was your friend. My heart is broken that he was taken from us so soon. We will miss you Francesco and always know that we will look after Giovanna and Fabiana! From this Irish girl to my favorite Sicilian, Ciao Bella (but never forgotten)
