Elizabeth Ann Johnson

Ms. Elizabeth, “Liz” Johnson, passed away on Sunday July 31, 2022, at her home in Princeton. She was 92 years of age.

Mrs. Johnson was born on April 14, 1930 in Mecklenburg County, Virginia and lived there as a child. She moved to South Orange when she was ten years old. She spent many years residing in the Oranges before moving to Princeton to live with her daughter, Sheree in the year 2000.

She worked for many years as a line employee for RCA in Harrison and later at Merrimac Industries in West Caldwell, where she manufactured signal processing components. Since her youth, she spent many years as a loyal member of the First Baptist Church of South Orange.

Liz is survived by her daughter Sheree Johnson -Gregory (Raymond), her sister, Alice Reaves, grandchildren Raymond and Louis, along with a host of nephews, nieces, and friends.

Visitation will be held from 10-11 AM on Monday August 8, 2022, at the Gleason Funeral Home 1360 Hamilton Street in Somerset. A funeral service will begin at 11 AM at the funeral home. Interment and graveside services will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Somerset. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ms. Johnson’s memory may be made to the Wildlife Conservation Society or Save the Children.

Mrs. Johnson was born on April 14,1930 in Mecklenburg County, Virginia and lived there as a child. She moved to South Orange when she was ten years old. She was a proud graduate of Columbia High School in 1948. She spent many years residing in the Oranges before moving to Princeton to reside with her daughter, Sheree in 2000.

She worked for many years as a line employee for RCA in Harrison and later at Merrimac Industries in West Caldwell, where she manufactured signal processing components. Since her youth, she spent many years as a loyal member of the First Baptist Church of South Orange.

Liz is predeceased by her parents, Mary Ann Reid and Roy William Kersey, brothers and sisters, Leroy, William, Pearl, Herbert, Sara and Emma.

She is survived by her daughter Sheree Johnson -Gregory (Raymond), her sister, Alice Reaves, grandchildren, Raymond and Louis, nephews Robert and William, nieces, Judi, Robin and Gayle, along with a host of grandnephews, grandnieces, and friends.

Liz most loved being with her family, watching her favorite tv shows like The Price is Right, her favorite film stars, Anthony Quinn and Bette Davis, and listening to Johnny Mathis and Nat King Cole. She will be remembered for her wicked sense of humor and her kind and generous heart.
