Obituary

“If you meant something to someone, if you helped someone, or loved someone, if even a single person remembers you, then maybe you never really die at all” – Forever alive in our memories Edward Mosley

Edward J. Mosley was born on November 23, 1935 in the Isthmus of Panama. The ninth of twelve children, and while he was the youngest son of Samuel and Augusta Mosley he was looked to as the Patriarch of the family.

He grew up in Panama and later migrated to New York City, USA in 1960. During his final days Edward rededicated his life to the Lord and Savior. On May 21, 2021 he departed this world in his home surrounded by his loving family.

Known as “Eddie” to family and friends, he attended Artes y Oficio in Panama and completed his education at Central Evening High School. After two years in the U.S. Army, Eddie was Honorably Discharged. Eddie started his career in the mailroom at Merrill Lynch in 1960. He worked his way up to becoming EVP of Print Services until his retirement in 2000.

Eddie was a respected member of the community always willing to lend a helping hand or give the wisdom he gained through years of experience to friends and family alike. Eddie was an avid bowler, who belonged to several bowling leagues. He also enjoyed travel, photography, music, gardening and socializing.

Thoughts of Eddie conjure many feelings in his loved ones. When asked to describe what Eddie meant to them, they said Eddie was: Compassionate, Generous, Dependable, Reliable, Boundless capacity for love, Selfless, Caring, Comforting, Mentor, Grounded, Cheerful, Humorous, Affable, and Beloved by all.

In addition to the feelings evoked when thinking of Eddie his family remembers him for his many talents including Cooking, Carpentry, Mechanics, and Sewing. To those who knew him Eddie was a true Renaissance man capable and ready to meet any challenge to support those he loved.

Eddie’s greatest joy in life was his family. Mourning his loss but celebrating his memory is Vilma Mosley, his wife of 56 years, Indira Mosley, his Beloved daughter, daughter Melissa (Lisa) Mosley, “the apple of his eye”, Nicholas Givan, his cherished grandson, Belinda Whaley and Linda Long, his sisters, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Cremation services have been held privately.

Memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, May 30th at 12 PM at the Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton Street, Somerset, followed by a 1 PM funeral service.

Parting thoughts:
“Take life one thing at a time…Never look for what you don’t need…I was never over my head in anything and I tried to teach this philosophy to the younger generation. If you have good thoughts you get good results. Life is not what you want it’s what is given to you, you have to learn to enjoy it.” – Edward Mosley

Lord, You are letting your servant depart in peace, According to Your word; For my eyes have seen Your salvation. (Luke 2:29-30)
