Dr. Jeffrey Farah
Dr. Jeffrey J Farah passed away on Friday, July 30, 2021, at his home in North Brunswick. He was 56 years old. He was born in Newark and raised in the Ironbound section of the city to Joseph and Awatif Farah.
Dr. Farah graduated high school from Seton Hall Prep and continued his education at The Cooper Union School of Engineering where he graduated with Bachelors and Masters degrees in Electrical Engineering. He received his Doctorate in Computer Science and Systems Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Dr. Farah was the Director of Technology and Chief IP Technology Officer at AT&T. He had over sixty domestic and international patent issuances and pending submissions. His innovation and vision contributed to AT&T’s competitiveness and billions in revenue for the company. He was also an adjunct professor at DeVry University in North Brunswick.
Jeff was an Entered Apprentice Mason with the Free and Accepted Masons Lodge #294 in Milltown and awaiting to be passed to the degree of Fellowcraft. He enjoyed coaching Recreational and Travel soccer teams, leading them to victory for the North Brunswick Soccer Club. He also served as Treasurer for the club for many years. Jeff was also a staunch fan of the NBTHS Raider Marching Band serving as Treasurer for multiple years. Jeff loved supporting his children whether it was his daughter’s academic accolades or his son’s musical performances.
Although proud of his professional experience and educational pedigree, his greatest source of pride and accomplishment was as a husband, father, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend. He loved his family so much and called daily. Alex and Nick were his whole world. He wanted the best of everything for his family. He protected and cared for his Mom and cousin always but especially during the pandemic, securing them vaccinations and supplying them with groceries regularly.
Jeff loved travelling to Bar Harbor, Maine with the Cooper Crowd and annual trips with his family. He enjoyed Christmas and hosting holiday parties. His home was always decorated for the occasion. He loved Star Trek, Star Wars, and everything Science Fiction. He couldn’t wait for the Renaissance Faire to open so he could dress up in period costume and enjoy the festivities with his family. He offered helpful advice to everyone. He was the most loving, caring man, and at the same time, the fiercest warrior when needed. He would be the first one to right a wrong if it was in his power. A loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend, he loved his family most of all and was equally loved and respected by all in return.
Jeff was predeceased by his father Joseph J. Farah.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years Rina and their children Alexandra and Nicholas. He is also survived by his mother, Awatif Farah, his sister Monica Farah-Stapleton, and her husband Bill, his Godmother Elizabeth (Betty) Farah, and a large loving extended family.
